Containerised Plantroom
KGN Pillinger were approached by consultants whose client was a leading bank with a large office block in London. The project was to design and build a containerised plant room that was to act as a standby plant room to provide cooling for the computer equipment used by the bank in case of the loss of power supplies. The container weighing approximately 12 tonnes was to be sited on the roof of the bank’s London office block.
KGN Pillinger were awarded the contract and used x2 WEIR 75kW pumps. All stainless steel pipework was constructed by KGN Pillinger and the pressurisation unit was a KGNSE200 floor mounted model. The client decided that the control panels were to be made by others but KGN tested them with the rest of the equipment to ensure all worked satisfactorily prior to the container being shipped to site.
The lifting and siting of the container proved to be extremely complex and involved 3 cranes and a service road being closed to all traffic.
